Ok, so I know most people out there will disagree with this point of view; some people will likely be outright with the following statement, but I cannot help it, and it’s just an expression of my actual feelings: I hate surprise birthday parties. This isn’t something I can explain too easily, so please bear with me as I try.

A birthday party should be a celebration of yourself, enacted by your loved ones who choose gathering around you in your special day. Now, to someone even think of setting up such a party seems to me like an awkward kind of treason. Do you think that’s stupid? Well think about it for a moment:

If you want to surprise a friend in his birthday, why not just come up to him and say something like “hey man, I found this first birthday party ideas website, and it looks pretty good. So we’re gonna be using it to setup your birthday party, if that’s okay with you?”.

Can you tell the difference in this approach? I think it’s much nicer to help the birthday person organize a party than just going around their back and doing it in secret. I mean, if you’re supposed to really make it perfect for the person, don’t you think they should have a say in the matter?

Life is funny that way. Just a few moments ago I was chatting with one of my college buddies from the west coast, and we were going over all the misadventures we used to get into every once in a while. I don’t really feel like going into much detail here, but suffice it to say that we had to call a Los Angeles Criminal Lawyer… more than once. In fact, after a while we got pretty friendly with some lawyers in the area since we oftentimes called them for … uhm, let’s call it legal advice. Nothing serious of course: it’s just that sometimes following the law isn’t that simple.

Well, but I digress. Truth of the matter is that for college kids, indulging a little misdemeanor here and there is of course a part of college life. I’m not talking about stealing or anything like that, mind you… well not unless there’s some kind of prank involved, of course! But you know how it goes with college and pranks, right? Sometimes it’s all in the name of good fun, but occasionally things have a way of getting out of hand. Well, in such occasions it’s good knowing a good lawyer, just in case! Well, at least I think so.

I just came back from the optometrist, and it’s official: I’m about to become a nerd with glasses. After so many years of bragging over my perfect sight, I suppose that all those hours sitting in front of computer screens finally took the tool on my eyesight. Well, at least I only need some corrective eyeglasses, so I won’t have to wear them all the time… just when I’m sitting in front of a screen. That’s actually pretty good, since I’m just too clumsy to be able to wear glasses all the time.

I would probably end up breaking them all the time and getting a new pair every week. Although, that wouldn’t be that troublesome since I’ve found this website that sells prescription glasses from $8… at those prices, I really could afford to buy a new pair every week, if it came to that. Also, I did make some research on this company to make sure it’s legit, and it turns out they have been positively reviewed by influential sources (check out this article, for example). I’m sort of annoyed I have to wear glasses, but at least I won’t have to spend a lot of money on them. Maybe my sight will get better after a few months…. I hope so!

I always remember the words of wisdom I have once heard, concerning the flow of time: hours drag on slowly, but years go by in a blur! Sometimes I can hardly believe I’m already a grown up. And you know what? As scary as it may sound, I’m going to be a godfather! And I plan on being a top-class godfather at that, so I’m about to start by buying some maternity clothes for my sister. How is that for planning ahead? Well, I’m just so happy because she just announced I am going to godfather my newest nephew! Pretty cool, eh?

Also, since I know for a fact that many women tend to become self-conscious of their body during their pregnancy… well, I guess that will help. And you know how women are… they love getting new clothes, and they love anticipating a childbirth in every possible way. And it’s pretty natural as well, since having a child is one of the highlights of adult life! One of these days I’ll want to experience the joys of fatherhood myself, and this invitation is a good stepping stone for getting started with learning how to take care of babies. Oh man, I’m really happy with these news.

Heads up, dear reader! If you’re the kind of person who’s still paying telephone bills… you really need to catch up. There are now business VOIP alternatives (and also personal VOIP, of course) that will endow you with the magic gift of distance conversation at almost negligible price. I think it’s amazing how many people still haven’t realized the advent of VoIP is steadily making telephone landlines grow obsolete.

In case you don’t know, it stands for “Voice over Internet Protocol”, and in layman’s terms it’s a way of making actual telephone calls over the Internet. It’s pretty much the same thing as regular telephone calls except it costs a fraction of the price! If you’re still paying telephone bills, you really should look into getting a VoIP alternative.

If you’re looking for the best Voice over IP provider in the UK, you may want to check out SynergyOne to get some impartial advice as well as learning which solution is more appropriate to your needs. This is a recommendable company because they offer a solid and on-going customer service, and they will help you develop a scalable system that meets all your requirements.

Have you ever tried to produce a video? Man, it’s tough! I had never been much into video editing, but just recently I agreed to help my sister-in-law put together a video using a bunch of tapes she had taped over the years. At first I assumed it would be piece of cake – and I guess maybe it would, if we knew what we were doing, that is! Let me tell you, the (seemingly) simple act of converting the tapes to digital format turned out to be quite an ordeal, and I spent almost 3 afternoons just figuring out how it’s done.

I had to install a DV board in my computer, but eventually I did manage to get the footage in digital format. From there, I assumed it would be a breeze – wrong again. I know there are many people who are talented using Adobe Premiere, but I must admit I’m not one of those people. I must admit, at this point I almost feel like handing the job to a CT video production company, because I just know producing this video won’t be easy! And here I always thought video editing was simple enough… just goes to show that I have many things to learn, still!

Dallas Moving Companies. This new type of moving quote service allows for companies to compete against each other. All of the companies listed are extremely reputable. When looking for Dallas movers, using a moving quote service will help you save a great deal of money because movers compete for a customer business rates fall drastically. ALWAYS GET A CONTRACT BEFORE THE MOVE, NOT ON MOVE DAY, the Dallas movers will catch you off guard and use tha against you..Check the contract for extra fees. How much the movers charge for extra items, or extra pounds. Do not book a mover by cubic foot!! Most rip offs are pulled this way. If you book a mover by the pound, they have to (by law) weigh the truck before and after pickup a a certified weigh station. Make sure and get copies from the Dallas Movers and Dallas Moving Companies.

It’s amazing how I get into all kinds of trouble without thinking twice. In case you’re wondering dear reader, my current ordeal involves coming up with birthday party ideas for my nephew. Not that I lack ideas, but when it comes to birthday parties I’m usually better at organizing celebrations for people around my age. Putting together a good party for kids will be more complicated than it sounds. Well, for once I’m not really up to date on the latest trends, as far as cartoon character go. But I guess I can handle that easily with a little Internet research.

I mean a good children’s birthday party is supposed to be decorated with a nice colorful theme, right? And popular cartoon shows are usually one of the best options – at least they used to be, back in my day. Maybe I’m over-thinking, but I really want to do everything I can to make it a “awesome” party. I’m even thinking about requesting the services of a party planner, but I’m not sure if I’m up for that. I want to create something unique, something very much of my own. Something that no one else would have thought about.

…. So. Any ideas?

Last night I went to see the movie “Where the Wild Things Are” by Spike Jonze, with that kid Max who’s probably going to win the Academy Award for his amazing performance. Well, I must admit I was almost forced into the movie theater by a friend who knew I would love the movie. And I did. You see, my opposition was in that I was very much fond of that children’s book story, and I was afraid the movie version would completely butcher the concept. Fortunately, it really didn’t … much the other way around.

There’s something almost magical about this story, and I think many Americans easily attest to this feeling. It’s essentially a reflection on the confusing experience of being a child, and it focuses brilliantly on the idea that throwing tantrums won’t get them (the kids) nowhere nice. Watching this movie really made me go back to my childhood, and it evoked some old memories of my old childrens beds, and of my mom and dad reading me that book before bedtime. They always read me that story when I went to bed angry about something, and each and every time it made me feel better. If you don’t it yet, I highly recommend you check it out!

I already mentioned I am a reckless driver, right? Well, you might think I was overstating or otherwise just indulging one of my customary rants… but I’m afraid this is the real deal. I have had my bit of rough patch earlier in life, and there are people out there who have a good idea of what I’m talking about. Such as those Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorneys from that one time I did that one thing. They were really nice to me, and I couldn’t possibly expect for better help and support dealing with such a tricky situation.

For all the youngsters out there reading this, the best I can say is… do not drink and drive. Do not assume you’ll do “all right”. Do not get carried away by your drunken bravado, because more likely that not you’ll get into some kind of trouble. Ever since I smashed a car from “drunking under driving” and nearly running over an innocent person, I have indeed learn my lesson. Nowadays I prefer sleeping it off in my car, if it gets to that. But ideally, I altogether avoid drinking if I am in charge of driving for the evening. And I earnestly recommend you do the same.
