How to build a free website in less than 5 minutes!

October 11, 2009 Posted by admin

So you’ve always wanted to get your own website, but you’ve always thought it’s too hard? So you have the vision but not the technical know-how to become a full-fledged webmaster? Maybe you’ve already tried learning some HTML but you quickly grew frustrated with the lack of immediate results? Worry not, because I’m about to show you something that was specifically created to help people in your position. I’ve just found a terrific and intuitive WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) website creating system that is absolutely fool-proof… and even better, it’s free!

Next, Google Adwords management will be a perfect partner even for a new website.

Using this service, you can build a free website in less than 5 minutes; is as simple as registering your account (just choose a login and password, that’s about it), and choosing from a simple, yet wide range of available options. You can either customize your design or choose from hundreds of available templates in all shapes and colors, aiming all imaginable purposes – from personal webpages to photo galleries and even business website. Having chosen your favored design, it’s just a matter of adding content! You can also do that quite easily from the admin page, and of course you get a choice to organize your content in several sections… such as info, gallery, guestbook, etc! I’ve created a page of my own in less than 3 minutes:

Instant custom website! not bad, eh? You should try it!

Heads up! It’s the XXI century already, in case you hadn’t noticed!

September 11, 2009 Posted by admin

It’s a whole new world out here in the XXI century, and from a business as well as a personal standpoint, we are left with two choice: adapt and evolve OR be left behind and collapse. You may think I’m exaggerating, but in all truth I keep coming cross clear-cut examples of how much anyone can benefit from keeping up to date with the latest technological developments and novelties.

A good example that comes to mind is business voice & data; there are nowadays some highly competitive services which oftentimes go by unnoticed; there are advanced business VoIP that will allow any company to make a drastic cut in their communication expenses. Yet, there are many companies that still use the tried and true old methods which sometimes cost several times as much. That’s just plain old stupidity, if you ask me!

I’m not running a business – at least not just yet – but if I ever find myself in such a position, one of the first and most important things I’ll do is going to be researching a good and modern business internet service; we’re living the heyday of the information age, and as such our lines of communications are so important for our businesses as our blood vessels are to our body. Feel free to keep living in the XX century if you feel like doing so, but don’t tell me I haven’t tried to warn you about the possible implications of such behavior!

I did find that book – no closer than all across the globe!

September 8, 2009 Posted by admin

You know all the people who complain about globalization, about how we’re losing our identity from the world getting smaller? Well… in my humble opinion, those people are backwards – they’re much too old fashioned and they really don’t realize how lucky we are for being able to participate in this day and age of human development.

Okay, so this kind of reasoning probably doesn’t strike you a much of a surprise, from someone who’s running a blog focused on technology. But maybe if I provide a practical example, the casual reader will understand more easily what I’m talking about. You see, early this week I lost a book from the local library – so I was left with two choices: replace the book on my own or pay an outrageous fine to have them look up the book for me.

Obviously I decided to look it up on my own. However, it as easier said than done; it turned out surprisingly hard to locate a copy of that book, even though it was by no means an antique, or a rare edition. I did find it though: no closer than an Australian book store! So that’s essentially why I’m sticking to my reasoning that globalization (and remarkably the Internet) is indeed a good thing… just as long as we learn how to use it to our advantage, right?

Finding the perfect web host is trickier than it sounds!

August 24, 2009 Posted by admin

If you’ve ever ventured beyond the ready-made landscapes of MySpace, Facebook and similar services – this is problably something you’ve already realized: finding a good, reliable, inexpensive webhost that suits your wants and needs can indeed be tricky matter. That’s because there are just too many web hosts out there, and they all look pretty much the same for the untrained eye. Unless you’re already quite familiar with the technicalities that come with hosting a website (and if you’re just starting out there’s a good chance you aren’t), you will have a hard time deciding on a single web hosting company.

Truth be told, I’ve had my share of headaches from making the wrong decisions, back when I started putting websites together. My first webhost ever looked like a good deal, but it turned out that they didn’t allow each account to use much processor share on their servers. So when my websites started pulling a little bit of traffic, they kept getting blocked for excessive CPU usage and going offline. Each time that happened I had to contact the webhost directly and ask them to restore my access  – that was extremely annoying, and it hurt the initial growth of my sites. So I quickly changed to a second webhost, and this time around it seemed to work fine, but it was really inordinately expensive. Not to mention it didn’t offered much of a customer support.

I could go on and on describing my bad experiences with hosting companies, but I’d rather point out a simple trick I picked up along the years: webhostig reviews. These are websites dedicated to the comparison and analysis of popular web hosts; they usally provide you with side-by-side feature charts that make the decision process a lot simpler; so whether you’re looking for a good shared hosting or a powerful dedicated server, just do yourself a favor and don’t make blind decisions. It’s always a good idea to get informed: remember, your hosting package is the ground where you’re building your web presence. You want that ground to be as steady as possible.

You think it’s just a website, but it’s actually your home on cyberspace!

Sometimes I find myself musing on the parallels between Internet and regular life. For example, this morning I was browsing around some random websites, and I was vastly impressed with how badly messed up most websites look. The funny thing about it is that most people are very mindful when it comes to decorating their homes and making them look good and fresh. But when it comes to their virtual homes (i.e. their websites), well… I guess the cultural values aren’t yet properly formed, as to prompt webmasters to pay close attention to the look and feel of their websites.

My recommendation for these people is actually quite simple and straightforward: get some professional web design help. Granted, everyone can create a website nowadays – there are simple enough tools with widespread availability… however, creating a website and creating a pleasant-looking and efficient website: those are two different things entirely. So, if you’re running a commercial website and you’ve been wondering why those customers don’t stick around or come back, there’s a good chance your virtual home is passing the wrong kind of impression to your customers! Fortunately though, that’s something that can easily be fixed; just do yourself a favor and talk with a professional website design firm. On the long run, it’ll be well worth your time and investment.

People who want to see SEO Results: Raise your hand!

July 1, 2009 Posted by admin

Well, to be honest I’m of mixed feelings on this matter. On one hand I think that yes, Google PageRank is still probably the quintessential-est of the cornerstones in the Google’s method to catalog and prioritize websites across the Internet, and distribute them across Google SERPS (search engine results pages). On the OTHER hand, I cannot help but feeling, based on my readings as well as my own observations – that Google’s algorithm must have grown exquisitely sophisticated over the years, meaning that it’s now harder than ever to come up with simple formulas that allow to effectively promote a website while aiming specific keywords. Whereas no more than one decade ago, things were as straightforward as better pagerank = better placement, the recent developments in the mother of search engines have fashioned the process of search engine optimization into a complex and multi-layered science. That just goes to say… nowadays if you want better SEO Results, it’s really best to rely on someone who does that for a living. Because they’ll probably make a much better job at it than you would, and they’ll pretty much pay for their own work, from the increased business you’ll likely get from increased exposure.

Catch my drift? Sometimes growing up in business is as simple as learning how to improve and expand upon one’s labor network and social sphere of influence. The new media present us with a golden opportunity to pursue such exploits, and even though the Internet gold rush is (fortunately) done and over with, there’s still an immense potential for online entreprenmeurs and online businesses in general to grow. Think about it, and if you’d like to see hard data, just check these graphics I retrieved from the link up there:

What’s new in Firefox 3.5? Let’s find out!

June 25, 2009 Posted by admin

Even though we still live in a technologically challenged society of individuals – most of whom can’t really tell the difference between (let’s say) a browser and a search engine – there’s still much going on everyday, and thankfully, new software keeps getting released and improved all the time, with the aim of making our lives easier. Among such software, a prime example is obviously Firefox, which is not only my browser of choice, but also one of the slickest little programs anyone could possibly hope to use, with the effect of browsing the Internet. If you’re an intelligent person, I won’t have to tell you just why Firefox is a superior browser; but maybe you’ll be interested to watch what’s new in the upcoming version 3.5:

Feel like doing a prank? Consider this!

June 22, 2009 Posted by admin

In this day and age, computers are useful for many things. For example, you can use a computer to type text, or make calculations, paint a picture or browse the Internet. OR, if you’re feeling a little bored, why not think about using someone’s computer to prank them? If the idea sounds intriguing but you’re not sure how to do it, here’s a video that might provide you with some food for thought. Enjoy!

Did you know? How technology is changing our world!

June 13, 2009 Posted by admin

Sometimes it’s good to take a break and think about life; in my opinion, that’s a good way of getting perspective. For example, have you ever paused to consider that just barely 10 years ago, there was almost no signs of Internet anywhere? In just a decade the Internet has absolutely pervaded our lives (which is generally a good thing), so I cannot help but wondering… how will everything be in another decade? Will things keep changing so drastically, or will a resting point be reached eventually? Well, according to the following video presentation, it looks as though the real change is yet to come!
